Art is not about the canvas, it is about what is on the canvas. A bit like music, because music is not about the technical bits of the signal chain, it is about the music we put through it. Nothing affects the music more than a loudspeaker and no loudspeaker is really a blank canvas. But the idea of the perfect loudspeaker should be just that, an absolutely blank canvas.

The VERDANDE 15 is a High Efficiency loudspeaker with a breathtaking sound quality. This is not the typical low-cost horn-based loudspeaker, but a true reference speaker with massive dynamic capabilities which makes it capable of recreating all types of music in a life like way.

Our goal with the VERDANDE 15 was to make a speaker which could excel and play every genre of music in a life like and engaging way.

The Ø Audio Icon is a high-efficiency speaker that is easy to drive even for low-powered tube amplifiers. They are recommended to be used with amplifiers from around 8w depending on the setup and room size!

The Icon has a unique asymmetrical design with no parallel walls. This gives very little resonance and also reduces the problems with reflecting sound waves inside the cabinet.

Top-of-the-line components

Ø Audio only uses top-of-the-line components all the way in our products. We use custom-designed woofers from Acoustic Elegance, Italian-made compression drivers, crossover components from Duelund and Jantzen, and enclosures handcrafted in Poland.

Controlled directivity

The Icon has a controlled directivity! The horn has a directivity of 60 degrees horizontally, which is narrower than many other HiFi speakers. This results in fewer reflections from sidewalls, which makes a better and more precise soundstage.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Speaker design is a combination of engineering and artisan work. We believe that even though the engineering side is very important, measurements and textbook solutions are tools and guidelines during the design process, but final listening and finetuning by ear is the key to a really outstanding result.

The VERDANDE SERIES has been in the making for more than 3 years and we have worked hard to make sure this line of loudspeakers deliver on all areas.

During our extensive design process, we use both advanced measurement and simulation tools between listening sessions. Today these tools are very powerful and accurate. Even though these tools tell us quite a lot about the mechanical, electrical, and acoustical parts of our design, they are useless used without listening and testing.

Our design goal, with every speaker we design, is to end up with a loudspeaker which portrays a musical event in a believable way. A loudspeaker must display dynamic capabilities as well as an ability to dig out even the most subtle details.

We do not design “one-trick-wonders”. During the design process we make sure the speakers will perform well with all kinds of music within the physical aspects of the design. A loudspeaker which excels with one kind of music, very often suffers from design flaws.

Quad Vertex SoundField Technology - QVeSoFT

Our proprietary technology QVeSoFT gives us the ability to control directivity and lower the effective working range of our high frequency units to match them perfectly with our low frequency units. Traditional horn-loaded drivers are often described as sounding like a horn, “shouty” or “honky”. With new simulation tools and a fresh way of thinking this is now a thing of the past. With this technology we can create a wide and stable sound field with reduced reflections from side walls, without the traditional negative effects of a horn. For the listener this means more focused details and a precise soundstage, but without ever sounding too forward, harsh or hard and bright.

This technology is being used for the first time in our VERDANDE 15 loudspeaker system.

VERDANDE 15

The VERDANDE 15 is first to market from our new VERDANDE SERIES. It is also the largest. VERDANDE 15 has dynamic capabilities beyond traditional HiFi speakers but can still play delicate musical passages with timbre and emotion. It will portray the dynamics of a live rock concert or a large symphony orchestra, but at the same time let you capture the emotions of smaller singer-songwriter venues.

THE DRIVERS

Tweeter and upper midrange driver

The upper part of the frequency spectrum is handled by a high quality specially selected compression driver coupled to our Quad Vertex SoundField Technology horn.

Lower midrange and bass Driver W38HP77T-D

This is our proprietary woofer designed for very low distortion over a wide area. Special attention has been paid to the L2D2 Motor. L2D2 actually stands for Linear Drive – Low Distortion which summons up the main goals with the motor structure for this amazing woofer.

The driver has a 77mm voice coil with Titanium former. The voice coil is positioned with precision inside the optimized magnetic gap. Carefully matched suspension parts and the very stiff and resonance optimized paper cone tops off this amazing driver with unprecedented performance in its class.
